JOB TITLE:* Home Delivered Meals Driver – Meal Transport Vehicles
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Site Manager
POSITION LOCATON: 1609 36th Ave.
POSITION CLASSIFICATION: 9:00 AM. to 2:00 PM Monday through Friday.
This time frame may change as the need arises.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Report to work as scheduled in appropriate attire.
- Read route sheet for the day and uses it as a guide for amount of meals needed for delivery. Discuss any special instructions with Site Manager.
- Start truck and turn on heating/cooling units prior to loading (if applicable). Time needed to get ready to load will depend on the weather.
- Load truck according to the route sheet. Hot meals in the hot section, cold items in the refrigerated unit.
- Clean up work area before leaving site.
- Responsible for any food forgotten and/or not taken to seniors. Driver is required to return to the site to deliver any missing food.
- Notify Site Manager of any potential problems regarding food, truck/van or seniors. Report all complaints, suggestions and requests to Site Manager.
- Ready to leave nutrition site en route to seniors by 10:15 a.m.
- Respect all CNN rules and regulations. Be polite to seniors on the route.
- Practice daily sanitation procedures.
- Take and record temperatures as needed on route.
- Report all accidents (major or minor) to Site Manager immediately. Report any difficulties or potential problems with truck/van to Site Manager.
- Check with Site Manager before leaving for the day.
- Any other related duties as assigned by Site Manager.
VEHICLE MAINTENANCE
- Drive carefully in order to prevent accidents and avoid damage to the meal transport vehicle.
- Report all accidents immediately to the Site Manager, including minor scratches and dents to the CNNSSA vehicle and any damage to the vehicle or property of others.
- Report any unusual noise, smell, etc., which would indicate vehicle problems to the Site Manager.
- Fill vehicle with gas as needed.
- Maintain air in tires and check lights regularly.
- Check oil, transmission fluid, windshield wiper fluid, anti-freeze/water, etc. every week.
CLEANING OF VEHICLE
- Vehicle must be kept clean at all times – cab and back, inside and out:
- Daily wiping of spills inside the meal transport vehicle.
- Washing of meal transport vehicle when needed, including mats.
- There is absolutely no smoking in the meal transport vehicle.
- Keep parking area around meal transport vehicle clean.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
- Able to read and write, read a map, and follow directions.
- Knowledge of food storage and handling procedures; i.e. Hot/hot, cold/cold, FIFO = First In, First Out
- Able to lift 60 pounds.
- Knowledge of proper sanitation procedures.
- Able to interact positively with staff, volunteers and program participants.
- Capable of working without direct supervision.
- Must have had a drivers license for 3 years minimum
