What are the responsibilities and job description for the School-Based Emotional Wellness Therapist position at Community of HOPE?
The School-Based Emotional Wellness Therapist is accountable directly to the Associate Director, Pediatric Emotional Wellness. This position may be responsible for the supervision of Master level Interns and or Graduate level clinicians as appropriate. We are looking for two candidates to fill this role - one will be based at Ketcham Elementary School in SE DC and the other at Moten Elementary School in SE DC.
The salary for this position ranges between $75,000 - $85,000 annually and the offer amount is determined by the candidate's education, qualifications, and experience. Indeed provides their own estimated salary calculator and is not affiliated with COH's range.
Highlighted Duties and Responsibilities :
- Completes intake and psychosocial assessments for all referred clients following COH protocols.
- Utilizes appropriate screening tools to assess for clinical diagnoses.
- Screens for emotional wellness diagnoses as appropriate.
- Completes a treatment plan for all short-term therapy clients by the 3rd scheduled session.
- Monitors client progress through the course of treatment, reevaluating and adapting the treatment plan at required intervals. Treatment Plan should be updated at least every 3 months or more frequently as appropriate.
- Provides crisis intervention per the clinician’s licensing, following the school’s protocol and COH guidelines, to include addressing suicidal / homicidal ideations.
- Ensures client safety by following COH policies for contacting Child and Family Services Administration, Adult Protective Services Mobile Crisis, CHAMPS, School Based Resource Officer, and / or 911 when appropriate. Creates client safety contracts as appropriate.
- Provides individual, family (non-couples), and group therapy.
- Conducts training and builds school / community support for delivery of effective School Based Mental Health services (SBMH) to children and families
- Enhances school climate and broadly promotes emotional wellness, health wellness, and school success for students, families and staff by conducting on-going needs assessments, building relationships and systematically seeking to reduce stigma.
- Delivers a range of health promoting and preventive interventions, including those focusing on resilience, wellness and effective coping with stress
- Delivers a range of effective interventions to children and families to address emotional and behavioral concerns and the unique stressors through the delivery of training implementation of evidence-based practices
