We are now hiring a skilled Nursing Supervisor in Manhattan, NY. The Nursing Supervisor will play a crucial role in assisting individuals with learning physical, intellectual, emotional, and social life skills. This person delivers care to individuals with disabilities in a community setting utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. This person additionally effectively interacts with the patient, significant others, and other health team members while maintaining standards of professional nursing.
Responsibilities
- Participate in the admission of new residents to assigned homes
- Develop plans to guarantee that the medical and healthcare needs of the residents are met, and ensure the appropriate medical follow-up
- Provide special instructions to residents and home staff related to medical diagnosis, allergies, diet, etc., and is available for ongoing consultation to staff regarding medical problems and healthcare
- Create and distribute Individual Plan Medical/health reports detailing participants’ general health, health care goals, and physician recommendations for each participant
- Provide documentation regarding individual’s health status for various support people including family, guardian, staff, employment, and other professional staff as necessary
- Monitor participant's use of medications through medication administration logs
- Make referrals for needed medical services and ensure that follow-up care is pursued
- Participate in interviewing, hiring, and evaluation of nursing staff
- Perform medication assessments on individuals and ensure individuals are actively involved in the learning process
- Provide consultation services to other offices within the agency on an as-needed basis
- Provide after-hour, on call services
- Conduct routine staff meetings with the nursing department
- Provide or assign staff to perform OSHA and RN training during NEO
- Provides supervision for agency RNs and LPN
- All other duties as assigned
- Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation
- Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
Minimum Requirements
- Valid RN License and Bachelor's degree
- Valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record
- Experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Knowledge of state regulatory agency operations and standards relevant to supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
- Team oriented with demonstrated leadership experience
- Experience with problem solving against multiple priorities
