Description

Community Options, Inc. is a national non-profit agency providing services to individuals with disabilities in 12 states.

We are now hiring a Full-Time Assistant Controller to provide support in Princeton, NJ.  The Assistant Controller is a pivotal member of the fiscal team and works with the Controller to oversee all financial aspects of the company, including recommending policies and implementing procedures of the department. The Assistant Controller provides financial information that will assist management in making educated decisions regarding the future of the organization.  This is a Full-Time in-person opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and update accounting policies and procedures
  • Prepare, review, and file fiscal reports required by various funding sources
  • Assist with the month end close
  • Submit accurate and timely financial management reports, including but not limited to internal and external quarterly financial statements, annual audits, and annual budget reports
  • Prepare and review budgets and oversee budget processes and compliance
  • Assist with preparation of schedules and review all required tax returns including, but not limited to, Form 990, Form 5500, and various state required returns
  • Perform internal control testing on accounting policies and procedures, and report findings to management
  • Review and approve general ledger entries, expense reports, and accounts payable
  • Analyze revenues and expenses to ensure revenue maximization and cost containment
  • Train, supervise, assign projects to, evaluate, and is responsible for hiring / termination of staff to maintain optimum performance as developed by the Controller
  • Direct, motivate, delegate, and empower staff in the successful performance of tasks and responsibilities while encouraging innovation
  • Employee must cooperate with the license and department staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline
  • CPA certification and / or MBA
  • 5 years’ related work experience
  • Commitment to and knowledge of community-based support for persons with disabilities
  • Extensive knowledge of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; highly proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to prioritize with excellent time management skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Employment is contingent upon successful completion of checks of criminal background, central registry, child abuse registry, and drug testing
