7th/8th Math Teacher

Start date: Immediate Job Description: Full-time, 12-month, Exempt Community Preparatory School seeks a middle school pre-algebra/algebra teacher to join our team. This is a full-time, exempt, salaried position. The teacher will report to and be supervised by the principal. Our ideal candidate would have experience in teaching prealgebra and algebra, the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and a demonstrated interest or passion in working with underrepresented groups and their families. Specific responsibilities of the teacher shall include, but not necessarily be limited to the following: Design and implement engaging and standards-aligned lesson plans for 7/8th-grade students studying prealgebra and algebra. - Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation, critical thinking, and respect among students. - Utilize various instructional strategies and resources to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom. - Incorporate technology and other innovative tools to enhance the learning experience and promote digital literacy. - Assess student progress regularly through formative and summative assessments and provide timely and constructive feedback. - Collaborate with colleagues to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities integrating math with other subjects. - Establish and maintain strong communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress, classroom activities, and school events. - Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with educational trends and best practices. - Perform other tasks as deemed necessary and appropriate by the principal. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in education or a related field; Master's degree preferred. - Valid teaching certification for middle school math is preferred. - Demonstrated experience in teaching math at the middle school level. - Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Commitment to ongoing professional development and a growth mindset. - Familiarity with educational technology and its integration into the curriculum.
