About the Role
This role involves:
- Assuming responsibility and accountability for patient care provided by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students
- Assessing patients' needs, identifying, and initiating appropriate occupational therapy interventions, working collaboratively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork
- Observing and evaluating treatment effect, accomplishment of short and long-term goals, recommending changes to physicians as needed
- Performing assessments on each patient, performing reassessments as per policy, accurate and timely QI scoring, serving adult and geriatric patients requiring an adult medical rehabilitation program and services
- Ability to assess patient pain interfering with optimal level of function or participation in rehabilitation, making appropriate interventions to reduce pain, contacting physicians for interventions when necessary
- Performing all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state where the hospital is located
- Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred but not required
- Effective oral and written communication skills in English with additional languages preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification
Experience with spinal cord injuries is required, SCI certification is preferred.
