Essential Job Functions
In collaboration with the Professional Development Coordinator
- Works with the agency training committee to identify topics and issues that staff in each department requires for success in their designed positions.
- Prioritize agency training needs with agency directors; assist in the development and implementation of annual professional development program.
- Instruct the monthly three/five day veteran/new employee training course curriculum and ensure the material is presented in a manner that is educational, stimulating and motivating. Assist with updating the curriculum as needed to help CRI employees meet the needs of all participants.
- Instruct management skills trainings as scheduled and will assist updating the curriculum as needed.
- Ensure there are adequate training supplies in stock at all times.
- Assist in preparing and breaking down training rooms and maintaining an orderly work environment.
- Schedule, as necessary classes to meet the regulatory needs of the agency such as CPR, First Aid, PMT and OSHA.
- Assist with maintaining a calendar of the entire agency offered training classes.
- Forward all training paperwork to training administrators and/or regulatory agency within 48 hours of date of training.
- Complete data entry of training as assigned.
- Scan training signature sheets within 48 hours of completed trainings.
- File and maintain program licensing books as paperwork comes in.
- Assist in preparing and presenting training information at scheduled program licensing.
- In the absence of the professional development coordinator post all trainings on the CRI Intranet and M drive in order to keep CRI personnel up to date with current offerings.
- Assist the professional development coordinator in the design and implementation of all agency trainings.
- Instruct trainings as requested and scheduled by the professional development coordinator.
- Assist with scheduling and tracking medication administration certification training needs for all CRI employees.
- Maintain written documentation for all current and past STAR/DCF employee training.
- Responsible to file STAR/DCF training signature sheets after data entry. Copies will be made and filed in training books and forwarded to Human Resources when required.
- Schedule /coordinate regional training as needed.
- Instruct OSHA, PMT and CPR/FA as scheduled.
- Notify professional development coordinator and program director when staff members are out of training compliance.
- Coordinate and facilitate agency Safety Committee.
- Attend licensing for training audits as requested.
- Assist with developing and maintaining STAR/DCF program training needs.
- Facilitate tracking of all Hepatitis B vaccine requests.
- Maintain MSDS records for all programs.
- Assist with planning and scheduling CRI conferences and “brown bag lunches”.
- Complete any additional tasks as identified by Program Coordinator/Director.
REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION
- Must obtain trainer certification in PMT, OSHA, CPR, First Aid, and Harassment Prevention within 120 days of hire.
- Must complete all requirements necessary to maintain certifications.
- Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends.
- Must be willing to travel for scheduled trainings.
Educational/ Professional Requirements
Minimum of five years of experience working with persons with developmental disabilities and/or a Bachelor’s degree required. A degree in one of the following fields is preferred: special education, rehabilitative counseling or psychology. Experience in operation, administration and training in DDS/DCF group homes required.
