We do this through a variety of programs including emergency assistance, domestic violence emergency shelter, counseling, housing stability and access to food. Community Resource Center is widely recognized as the primary provider of social services and domestic violence programs in coastal North County San Diego, serving more than 7,200 people each year.
Position Summary:
Under the direct supervision of the Food and Nutrition Program Manager, the Food and Nutrition Program Coordinator is responsible for overseeing new Food and Nutrition Center (FNC) program initiatives including the development, launch, and implementation of a mobile food pantry and in-home food delivery programs. The Food and Nutrition Project Coordinator will work collaboratively to implement essential food programs designed to improve access to meet client needs and ensure high quality service.
This position is full-time and must be able to work certain Saturdays and some evening shifts.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
Project Coordination
- Support the overall operations of the FNC in coordination with the FNC Program Manager, with a primary focus on empowering and guiding volunteers who manage day-to-day pantry activities.
- Serve as a key facilitator of FNC expansion efforts, including the Mobile Food Pantry and Home Delivery programs—overseeing logistics, inventory management, and scheduling.
- Operate the Food & Nutrition Center every second Saturday of the month for a limited food distribution.
- Maintain oversight of the Fresh Rescue program, including consistent communication with grocery store partners, volunteer drivers, and partnership agencies, while ensuring food safety standards are upheld.
- Support intake processes by reviewing and processing participant documentation according to program guidelines.
- Provide guidance to CRC case management staff regarding FNC services and resources to ensure smooth integration and participant support.
- Monitor inventory levels at both the FNC and offsite storage warehouse; coordinate restocking needs in collaboration with volunteers, the Program Manager, and other CRC staff.
- Cultivate and maintain partnerships with local donors, grocery stores, and community organizations to support ongoing food sourcing and resource sustainability.
- Manage participant scheduling through the FNC Calendly account; assist participants with booking appointments, audit appointment calendars regularly, and update settings to improve usability.
- Lead outreach and logistical coordination for the Mobile Food Pantry program, including scheduling community stops, coordinating with volunteers, and tailoring distribution based on community needs.
- Assist with public benefit enrollment, including CalFresh and Medi-Cal benefits.
- Attend relevant food security training and seminars to stay informed of emerging trends, best practices, and compliance regulations.
- Assist the Program Manager in ensuring that all FNC operations align with best practices, food safety protocols, health regulations, and contractual requirements.
Data Monitoring
- Ensure efficient, timely and accurate data entry of rescued food poundage and submit reports to respective partnership agencies.
- Collaborate with FNC Program Manager to collect, analyze, and audit FNC data entries. Utilize gathered metrics to recommend improvements to processes, procedures, polices and other aspects for the FNC.
Requirements:
- Bilingual Spanish Speaking preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a social service-related field required
- Minimum of one year of experience in program coordination, social services or food-related services required.
- Ability to work sensitively with traumatized and diverse populations and to handle crisis effectively.
- Effective oral and written communication skills with clients, co-workers, and community partners.
- Must possess strong computer and organizational skills, public speaking skills and ability to manage multiple tasks proficiently.
- Must be able to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, maintain a professional relationship with clients and staff, consistently strive to present a positive image of the agency to the surrounding communities and be able to perform diverse tasks in an efficient and effective manner.
- MS Office expertise: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
- Schedule flexibility with Saturdays and some evenings required;

- Other physical requirements involve walking, stair climbing throughout a regular workday.
