Within Community Strategies (CS) we support men and women with intellectual and developmental disabilities. CS provides specialized services from Day Programs, Shared Living arrangements with providers as well as over 40 community-based group homes. As we aim on expanding our workforce as well as services to our clients, we are hiring a Trainer to be responsible for supervising the delivery of training to our direct care staff.

Job Purpose
The Trainer will supervise the delivery of high-quality residential training to the individuals receiving various levels of services from Community Strategies in Massachusetts. Support a culture that develops superior agency wide operations through a leadership role in Community Strategies.
Functional Responsibilities
- Ability to conduct a number of training tropics and offer various supports to staff and managers throughout Community Strategies of Massachusetts, which includes New Employee Orientation as well as in the residential programs or on a 1:1 basis.
- Creating, tracking and filing proper documentation of completed trainings may be required.
- Enhance staff and managers’ professional development by providing mentorship and coaching that includes traveling to individual’s worksite or work remotely.
- Apply all the basic tenants of Positive Behavioral Supports (PBS) to work and assist with training staff and managers on how to implement PBS into the residential environment. This includes providing on-going support; as well as identifying programs who would benefit from an in-depth training experience then implementing such trainings.
- Instruct Proactive Approaches for Behavioral Challenges curriculum to all employees of Community Strategies of Massachusetts. This includes ensuring new staff are trained upon hire and a recertification schedule is available as needed.
- Conduct and perform necessary Meaningful Day training sessions and support to all staff including ensuring the required paperwork is available, completed and updated in the programs as needed.
- Learn and facilitate new training curriculums that Community Strategies of Massachusetts may require in order to properly train staff and managers; as well as meet the needs of licensing and certification.
- Record data on both staff and individuals throughout the shift.
- Report any significant issues using the On-Call hierarchy.
- Perform verbal and physical intervention as needed to ensure safety.
- Encourage staff and managers to promote a high quality of living that may include but is not limited to personal care, routine maintenance/housekeeping, community inclusion, meal preparation, etc.
- Ensure high quality residential services to all individuals delivered within a team management approach
- Represent CRJ/CS in meetings with stakeholders, including funders, families, guardians, regulatory and review committees and agencies
- Implement Policies and Procedures in accordance with the regulations of the State of Massachusetts and consistent with CRJ agency practice
- Research and utilize all available means of therapy in relation to each client’s individual needs.
- Ensure duties and responsibilities are carried out in a supportive and professional manner and attends appropriate meetings.
- Ability to handle sensitive information regarding individuals and employees in a confidential manner
- Perform other job-related duties such as projects and activities as requested or directed.
- Bachelor’s Degree or two years of experience in Human Services in lieu of education required.
- Experience in residential treatment and/or community-based group homes
- Experience using Applied Behavior Analysis
- Functional knowledge of a range of clinical systems and interventions
- Experience working with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities
- Knowledge of the treatment of clients with Borderline Personality Disorder, sex abuse and other forensic issues
- Must pass a CORI and drivers check
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation that can accommodate individuals safely.
- Ability to calmly and patiently manage threatening and assaultive situations
- Ability to pass First Aid, CPR, PABC and all training required by Residential Counselors
