Community Rightful Center provides a comprehensive range of health, social and vocational services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout South Florida. Under the direction of the Employment Services Manager, the Employment Specialist will help our clients identify their desired career goals; develop their vocational skills; and assist, support and guide them toward gainful employment and the achievement of their goals.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct a vocational assessment that includes the client’s overall goals, work background, interests, talents, skills, preferences, coping strategies, and other work related factors.
- Provide vocational development and on-the-job training and support, which includes career goal development, resume building, mock interviews, professional attire training, and soft skills development, to name a few.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with employers, educators, community partners, and other public and private stakeholders.
- Provide ongoing job coaching during the client’s employment and at their worksite.
- Work closely with employers to customize jobs that meet the employers needs while capitalizing on the skills and talents of the client.
- Provide timely documentation of all services rendered and ensure that all regulatory requirements are being met.
- Attend all required meetings, trainings and presentations.
- Perform all duties in a safe manner and ensure that individuals served adhere to all safety guidelines.
- Communicate regularly with the Employment Services Manager.
Requirements
- Interpersonal and sales skills to persuade employers to participate in training and employment programs for persons with disabilities.
- Analytical and research ability to determine community resources available to assist in training and job placement.
- An outgoing and sociable person willing to cold-call potential employers; attend networking events and job fairs; deliver community presentations; and effectively market and represent the program and services.
- Strong commitment to the rights and abilities of each person living with a disability to live in the community, work in a competitive job, and have access to helpful, adequate and continuous supports and services.
- Willingness to transport clients within the community to conduct job development and other activities necessary for individuals to obtain and retain employment.
- Will require use of own vehicle.
- Must place 4 people monthly minimum.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Master’s degree.
- Must have automobile, valid driver’s license, auto insurance and a good driving record.
- Must pass State background check and FBI clearance.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software.
