The Senior QC Underwriter plays a key role in helping to maintain the quality of the loan portfolio.
Essential Functions And Regular Responsibilities.
- Conduct thorough reviews of mortgage loan files to ensure compliance with company policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements. This includes reviewing credit reports, income verification documents, appraisals, title reports, and other supporting documentation to verify accuracy and completeness.
- Identify and document any discrepancies, errors, or omissions in loan files.
- Assesses whether loan approvals align with established risk parameters, including debt-to-income ratios, credit scores, and loan-to-value ratios.
- Analyze loan files for potential signs of fraud or misrepresentation, including discrepancies in income or asset documentation.
- Communicate identified issues to the loan originations team, including underwriters and processors, to rectify errors and ensure proper documentation is obtained.
- Maintain detailed records of review findings and generate reports on quality control metrics to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Effectively communicate with all parties throughout the loan process.
- Ensure files are complete and set-up in accordance with Company policy and procedures.
- Efficiently meet deadlines/closing dates while maintaining a pipeline of multiple loans.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in mortgage underwriting or quality control.
- Strong knowledge of mortgage lending guidelines and requirements.
- Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in mortgage loan origination systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Meridian Mortgage Link is a plus.
- Underwriting or QC experience in non-QM is a plus.
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred.
