The Maintenance Technician will perform a variety of carpentry, electrical, painting, and plumbing repair and maintenance work within various facilities within CSA.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Repairs and replaces plumbing fixtures including faucets, fixtures, washers, and gaskets;
2. Installs and repairs a variety of electrical components including lights, wall outlets, and switches;
3. Performs carpentry work including the construction, installation, and repair of cabinets, partitions, bulletin boards, shelving, windows, doors, desks, chairs, and related items; installs necessary hardware;
4. Delivers inventory and materials to Head Start classrooms;
5. Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; sets up rooms for meetings and special events;
6. Inspects buildings, grounds and equipment to identify maintenance, repair and replacement needs; reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards;
7. Performs custodial duties to maintain buildings and facilities in a clean and desirable condition; sweeps, vacuums, mops, waxes, strips and polishes floors; shampoos carpets, dusts and polishes furniture, woodwork, fixtures, and equipment; washes windows, mirrors and walls; cleans desks and countertops;
8. Performs other duties as may be assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS
Ability to: · Apply basic knowledge in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, asphalt, cement and patching; · Travel to multi-sites to perform maintenance functions · Assess and analyze repair needs and determine appropriate course for completion; · Respond appropriately and promptly to emergency requests; · Learn, interpret and apply administrative and program policies, rules and regulations; · Understand and follow directions, both oral and written Knowledge of: · Basic computer skills · Various tools and how to use them · Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required: A high school diploma and 2 years’ experience in one or more of the skilled trades, or any equivalent combination of education and experience in facilities maintenance and/or related field.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires the ability to talk or hear and visual ability to microscopic details; the ability to operate various maintenance equipment. The duties of this position may include working in environments with group of young children ages 3-5 yrs of age. Good physical health and emotional stability are necessary. The applicant must be able to perform the following physical activities which include but are not limited to; · Lift/Pull/Push at least forty (50) pounds. · Operate heavy maintenance equipment. · Operate heavy machinery and/or tools. · Run/move quickly. · Perform physical movement activities.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This job operates in multisite environments where exposure to sunlight, rain, and/or other outside weather elements exist; also operates inside professional offices.
