Program Coordinator-SCC Trainer

The Sequoia Community Corps is seeking a Program Coordinator-Trainer to develop and implement a robust training curriculum for all SCC trainees and staff. This individual will develop and provide trainings that will improve program, individual skills, and organizational performance. The incumbent of this position will also be responsible for analyzing the division's training needs, conducting field-related case studies, and evaluating training effectiveness. Highly desirable (not required but must have the ability to obtain) certifications: OSHA10 Construction Certified Trainer, First Aid/CPR AED Certified Trainer and background in construction or conservation.


ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Ability to get certified in, learn, and teach the Homebuilder's Institute Pre-Apprenticeship Certificate Training (PACT), OSHA10 in Construction, and First Aid/CPR AED curriculum to staff and trainees
  • Identify, design, plan, organize and develop formal training material in a variety of topics for staff and trainees
  • Ability to develop training modules for various programs relevant under the SCC umbrella
  • Present information with a variety of instructional techniques and formats, such as simulations, team exercises, group discussions, videos, or lectures, etc.
  • Obtain, organize, and develop training procedure manuals, guides, or course materials, such as handouts, visual materials, and training packets
  • Evaluate methods of training delivery (in person or virtual)
  • Analyze and optimize training effectiveness, costs, and programmatic and environmental impacts
  • Assess training needs through surveys, interviews with employees or trainees, focus groups, or consultation with lead staff, Program Directors and Division Director
  • Monitor, evaluate, or record training activities for program effectiveness
  • Develop alternative training methods if expected improvements are not seen
  • Monitor training costs and prepare budget reports to justify expenditures, if needed
  • Establish long-range training objectives and strategies/actions to achieve them
  • Provide guidance and expert advice to management or other groups on technical, systems, or process-related topics
  • Keep up-to-date and relevant job knowledge
  • Develop others- Identify the developmental needs of others. Coach, mentor, and assist trainees in improving knowledge and skills
  • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with others
  • Direct or coordinate marketing activities
  • Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques. This includes alternative ways to inform and entertain individuals via written, oral, and visual media
  • Analyze production, quality control, maintenance, or other operational reports, to detect problems
  • Develop and implement production tracking and quality control systems
  • Prepare and maintain production reports or personnel records
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be able to effectively and respectfully communicate verbally, non-verbally, and in writing
  • Must be able to provide guidance and direction to employees and trainees
  • Must possess the ability to make decisions and solve problems quickly and effectively
  • Must be organized in planning and prioritizing daily goals and duties with high attention to detail.
  • Must possess the ability to be added to the agency's vehicle insurance
  • Ability to work under pressure and work with different types of personalities
  • Knowledgeable of modern office procedures and methods, is proficient in use of computer, Windows operating system including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Access) and program database and utilization of basic office machines
  • Possess communication skills, research abilities, flexibility and an ability to work well with others
  • Ability to read and interpret documents
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Knowledge of local labor market and employer expectations
  • Travel to local one-stop centers, partner sites, etc. to meet with trainees and or market our programs
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of all aspects of the various company programs and the ability to communicate policy information in a clear and detailed manner
  • Ability to work effectively with minimal/no supervision


WORK CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

This position is typically situated in a standard office environment, however, may work in the field where they will be exposed to factors such as extreme temperatures, moving machinery, loud noise, and unpleasant odors.


  • Must be able to sit, walk and stand for long periods
  • Must have the visual ability to perform detailed work at close distances (computer screens)
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and reach
  • Must be able to drive company vehicles and travel as needed
  • Must maintain clean DMV record and be eligible to be added to and remain on the agency's vehicle insurance
  • Must be able to exert physical effort in light to moderate work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling
  • Must be able to read, understand, and explain various forms and written material
  • Requires ability to occasionally work an alternate work schedule which may include occasional weekend events
