About the Position
*This is a time limited NS-14 position* Energy Audits: 1. Conduct detailed energy audits of residential buildings to assess energy usage, identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements. 2. Use diagnostic tools such as blower doors, infrared cameras, and data loggers to assess the building's energy performance. 3. Analyze utility bills, building materials, and mechanical systems to identify areas for energy savings. 4. Provide actionable recommendations for improving energy efficiency, reducing utility costs and enhancing comfort. Quality Control Inspections: 1. Conduct quality control inspections on energy efficiency improvements, such as insulation, HVAC systems, lighting, and other energy-saving measures. 2. Ensure that installations meet energy standards, building codes, and regulatory requirements.
What you'll need to be Successful
Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and 2-4 years of experience. Agency preferred qualifications: 1.Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Environmental Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field (preferred but not required). 2. Minimum of 1 year of experience in energy auditing, building inspection, or energy management. 3. Certification as a Building Performance Institute (BPI) Energy Auditor or similar certification is a plus." Experience with energy efficiency programs or building performance programs, especially those in residential, commercial, or industrial sectors. Previous experience working with state or federal energy efficiency programs (e.g., Weatherization Assistance Program, Low-Income Energy Efficiency Programs). Hands-on experience with advanced energy modeling software such as EnergyPlus, eQuest, or RETScreen. Experience with quality assurance or quality control inspections related to energy improvements or construction.
