Community Servings' mission is to actively engage the community to provide medically tailored, nutritious, scratch-made meals to chronically and critically ill individuals and their families. In addition, we are committed to prioritizing racial and economic justice and health equity in all our programs and business practices.
We are a dynamic and fast-growing agency at the forefront of the "Food is Medicine" field, providing over 1M medically tailored meals annually to clients and their families experiencing illness and food insecurity in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. In addition, our work strongly focuses on supporting the regional local food system, delivering high-quality nutrition education to the community, and hosting an on-site food-service workforce development program. Over the past 34 years, the agency has provided 13M free, scratch-made meals.
The APKM’s main role will be to assist the Director of Packaging Operations in coordinating and completing the packaging and administrative tasks required to fulfill client orders. They will achieve this through individual effort and by leading staff and volunteers through planned and necessary projects.

Job Requirements
- Be a cultural leader by demonstrating a respectful and consistently positive attitude with team members and volunteers.
- Manage the daily bag build with an expert knowledge of the different diets and associated items for each as well as how to store bags based on delivery routes.
- Adhere to the standards for time and temperature control for proper item storage.
- Manage the daily meal, soup, salad and dessert packing tasks while adhering to strict portion control and utilizing the weekly / daily menus.
- Coordinate with the production team to ensure that items are packed in an appropriate time frame, with all required elements.
- Provide feedback to production team on inventory volumes and diet diversity needs.
- Manage meal and soup stacking, utilizing Salesforce reports and forecasts to ensure that stack inventory meets daily needs.
- Adhere to standards of accuracy, variety and quality assurance when building meal and soup stacks
- Ensure proper inventory rotation (FIFO) to prevent waste and meal repeats.
- Monitor inventory levels of packaging materials and place orders when necessary.
- Coordinate with the Packaging Associates so that they have the resources needed to complete the complex their tasks.
- Manage multiple groups of volunteers and pair with team members to accomplish the workload.
- Identify and assign tasks for volunteers and team members.
- Recognize and address challenges before and as they arise to promote smooth operational flow.
- Complete the ServSafe Food Manager certification course.
- Take responsibility for assigned tasks and ensures their timely completion
- Maintain organization and cleanliness in work and storage areas
- Set the example through empathy, positive communication and personal accountability.
- Champion teamwork through words and actions and seek ways to support teammates.
- Perform a daily walk-through and communicate corrections to be made.
- Assist with special projects and agency events as needed.

This position requires an individual to have the ability to lift to a maximum of 50 lbs. and includes bending and standing for long periods of time. The incumbent must maintain skills necessary to safely and efficiently operate the following equipment and machines used in the performance of this job : kitchen equipment (i.e., blast freezer, heat sealing machine).
