What are the responsibilities and job description for the Residential Group Home Manager position at Community Social Integration?
CSI provides 24/7 care and assistance to individuals with developmental and physical disabilities within residential group homes and individualized home support settings. Our homes are located across New Haven, Hamden, and North Haven, CT
We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Residential Program Manager to provide effective oversight within one of our group homes.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Must be able to perform all job functions and duties that are required of the Residential Instructors and Assistant Manager. Must be able to lift and transfer 70-75 pounds.
- Participates in developing the Overall Plan of Service for the residents, including developing and implementing individual programs.
- Implement Overall Plan of Service ensuring that all programs are implemented in at timely manner, that all staff are in-serviced, follow individual programs, and document accordingly.
- Monitor medical, physical, and behavioral changes in individuals on a daily basis. Document and report any and all changes to the appropriate department, i.e. Nursing, Behaviorist, or other consultants involved.
- Monitor that all staff who are Medication Certified, administer medications to resident at prescribed times, according the medication Administration policy. Assure that administration of medication according to policy occurs and is documented properly. Report all errors of medication dispensation or documentation according to policy.
- Ensure that written dietary plans for each resident are followed.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the home, inside and outside. Ensure the upkeep and maintenance of the property and request any maintenance needed for the property.
- Maintain CSI’s residents’ right to privacy and adhere to CSI’s confidentiality policy.
- Conduct oneself in a professional manner when interacting with supervisors, co-workers, consultants, case managers, families, and members of the community.
- Conduct monthly staff meetings, documenting content and attendance. Provide mandatory training to all staff, i.e. residents’ programs, individual needs, and all aspects of their care.
- Ensure that residents follow a daily schedule which includes: a variety of community based outings, programs, leisure activities and positioning guidelines.
- Ensure that the program remains in compliance with DDS regulations, and be present at all inspections.
- Be responsible for the finances in the home, including the use of Petty Cash, and individual client funds. Follow the Petty Cash and Clients audits as according to CSI policy.
- Schedule staff in accordance with staff to client ratios as written in the client’s supervision guidelines.
- Rotate on call with appropriate managers/coordinators and be responsible for the overall running of residential programs. Handle calls and provide documentation in accordance with CSI on call policy.
- Report monthly to agency via CSI tickler re: Supervise staff including: progressive discipline, evaluations, on-going supervision under the direction of the Residential Program Coordinator.
- Monitor compliance to safety requirements. Conduct fire drills monthly, or delegate appropriately. Maintain fire extinguishers and other safety related systems.
- Responsible to report staffing needs to the HR Director via the Staffing Request form and in accordance to policy.
- Perform other work related duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor and/or other management as required.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- Must possess a valid CT Driver’s License and a good driving record. Must have your own vehicle and carry a current registration and insurance on the vehicle.
- Must be able to obtain, and maintain, CPR, First Aid, Medication Certification within the regulations and time frames set.
- Successfully pass backgrounds checks to include: Criminal, motor vehicle, Sex Offender, DDS abuse and Neglect, PPD screening, and Drug Testing.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university; or two years related progressive experience and/or training preferred.
- Two years of progressive experience working with people who have a developmental disability.
- One year must include supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands The work requires physical exertion and moving about including bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, kneeling, and reaching or similar activities. Lifting objects required, typically weight does not 50lbs. (occasional lifting up to 75lbs.) Snow shoveling required. Occasional lifting or transferring an individual required. Physically restraining residents, using appropriate PMT techniques, required occasionally.
Mental/Visual Demands Frequent mental and visual attention is required in working with residents. Work is occasionally repetitive and requires alertness and concentration. Listening and communication may require more intense concentration. Mental demands most significant in dealing with small groups of residents in living arrangements and negotiation skills among residents.
Unavoidable Hazards/Risk The work involves moderate risk requiring special safety precautions (exposure to blood or bodily fluids, aggressive behaviors, etc.) Employees may be required to use PPE (personal protective equipment or gear such as gloves, masks, etc. The magnitude of bodily injury resulting from work hazards is moderate.
