Community Solutions is seeking a progressive, people-centric Human Resources (HR) Business Partner to join our People & Culture Team. This individual will work on a hybrid basis, expecting to be on-site at our Gilroy, CA headquarters 3 days per week. Occasional travel to our offices and facilities in San Jose and Morgan Hill is required. What You'll Be Doing in the Role:
- Represent HR and act as key contact and resource for a broad range of HR matters.
- Partner in creating and sustaining the organizational culture where everyone is valued and included, fostering a sense of belonging in an environment where employees can reach their full potential.
- You’ll guide and counsel our management and staff with employee relations, performance management, policy understanding and compliance by leveraging subject matter knowledge of HR laws and best practices, as well as partnership and collaboration with in-house subject matter experts.
- Advise and manage employee relations matters and investigations through the lens of equity and emotional intelligence to ensure fairness and consistency, in alignment with our collective bargaining agreement. Partners with the recruitment team to develop and implement effective talent acquisition strategies that align with organizational goals. Provides support, coaching, and training to managers on leadership skill development and effectively managing within a union environment.
- Work cross-functionally with members of the HR, Recruitment, Training, and Program teams to create, improve, and execute org-wide initiatives.
- Provide HRIS system administration, reporting, audits, and employee record retention.
- Maintain the quality and consistency of HRIS database information; analyze current data processes and needs, make recommendations, and implement data system improvements.
- Propose, publish, and administer personnel policies.
- Perform detailed compensation analysis to support the annual merit process and updates to salary structures.
- Lead and support large-scale cultural change initiatives and projects, promoting a diverse and inclusive workplace, and driving programs that enhance employee engagement and organizational culture.

- 4 years’ progressive experience in human resources with 2 years of experience in an HR generalist, business partner role, or similar relevant experience.
- You have a thorough knowledge of human resource best practices, policies/procedures, and CA employment law.
- You have a background in navigating complex employee relations challenges with a human-centered approach while balancing business risk.
- You naturally approach human resources from an employee-centered and compassionate approach.
- You have led or mentored others.
- Ability to listen with intent, internally consult (know which questions to ask), challenge assumptions, identify root cause and recommend solutions that make sense for the business.
- Understanding of talent management and the employee lifecycle.
- Strong organizational, time management, and project management abilities.
- Systems-minded and someone who leads with curiosity and seeks to understand the interconnection.
- Knowledge of and prior experience in applicable HRIS software, project management tracking and presentation tools (Microsoft Projects, Teams, SharePoint), and presentation tools (Canva, Zoom, and Powerpoint).
- Proficient with HR Systems, MS 365 Systems (Excel. Outlook, SharePoint, Teams) and other collaboration tools. You have a prior HR background in HRIS management, implementing HR processes and programs, and analyzing and presenting HR related data.
Working at Community Solutions: The annual base salary range for this role is $80,000 - $95,000. Grade level and salary ranges are determined through interviews and a review of education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
