Community State Bank has a new opportunity for a Full-Time Commercial Credit Analyst with the option for development into a Commercial Lender. Successful candidates will possess a strong finance background, a passion for client service and a dedication to solving client financing needs. A preference will be given to those with an MBA or Master's degree in Finance or a related field. Prior commercial credit analysis experience is helpful but not required. Candidates with at least three (3) years of commercial credit analysis experience may qualify be hired as a higher level Analyst.

Position Purpose: The Credit Analyst is primarily responsible assessing credit risk for commercial loan applications, monitoring the Bank’s existing commercial loan portfolio thereby ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of grades, contributing meaningfully to discussion in Loan Committee meetings.

Job Requirements:
Education: A 4-year degree in an Accounting or Finance-related field is required; advanced degree preferred. Completion of a state bankers association commercial lending/credit analyst school or similar program is preferred.

Experience: A minimum of six (6) months of prior Commercial Credit Analyst experience preferred. Prior knowledge of basic and intermediate U.S. GAAP accounting practices and expertise with financial statements is required.

Skills: Proficient verbal and written communication skills; analytical thinking skills; ability to type at least 50 wpm; proficiency with Microsoft Office software such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; fluency in the English language; ability to create professional-level written presentations; ability to travel between Bank and client locations as needed.

Leadership Expectations
  • Serve as a positive role model for other credit department staff.
  • Assist the department manager in properly training less experienced credit analysts.
  • Regularly assess department workflows and processes and suggest improvement/efficiency ideas to the manager.

Credit Administration Expectations
  • Monitor Annual Review tracking and complete annual reviews for the commercial loan portfolio.
  • Monitor Borrowing Base tracking and process updates to line of credit availability.
  • Monitor Financial Covenant tracking for the commercial loan portfolio and perform calculations.
  • Monitor Marketable Securities tracking and process margin calls.
  • Perform financial spreads and cash flow/collateral calculations as needed.
  • Perform floor plan checks on a periodic basis.
  • Assist other credit department team members as needed.
  • Meaningfully contribute to credit team projects as needed.

Credit Underwriting Expectations
  • Prepare Commercial Loan requests on transactions at all levels of complexity, risk and size ensuring (a) the loan request adheres to the Bank’s Loan Policy and exceptions are appropriately properly mitigated, (b) that key risks within the transaction are understood and properly mitigated, and (c) the borrowing relationship is properly graded.
  • Become a subject matter expert on CSB Policy & Procedures as well as all other CSB credit processes.
  • Become a subject matter expert on C&I, IRE, Individual, and Agribusiness lending disciplines.
  • Assist the Credit department Manager/Executive in reviewing commercial loan approvals as needed.
  • Assist Loan officers in the analysis/structuring of loan requests or situational analysis as needed.
  • Regularly attend client meetings and on-site calls when appropriate.

Compliance/Other Expectations
  • Be fully trained and knowledgeable in all compliance related areas of CSB including, but not limited to: BSA, OFAC, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands
  • Frequent sedentary work that primarily involves sitting.
  • Occasional standing and walking.
  • Frequent repetitive motions that include the hands and/or fingers.
  • Constant operation of a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, phone, and printer.
  • Constant lifting of up to 25 pounds.
  • Constant written and verbal communication with others to exchange information.
  • Constant state of awake and alertness.
  • Occasional need to speak to groups of people.
  • Constant ability to consistently report in-person at job site.
  • Constant ability to distinguish colors and clearly view close up written materials.
  • Constant exposure to moderate background noise (keyboards, telephones, printers, talking, etc.).
  • Occasional need to travel to other bank locations or various types of client business locations.
  • Occasional exposure to outdoor weather for up to a few hours at a time.
