The Opportunity: We are seeking to hire a Systems Administrator to join our Information Systems Team. This individual will perform tasks related to the design, installation, and support of the organization’s computer systems, including responsibility for computer system servers and local area networks (LANs) and network segments. The Systems Administrator will install, configure, and maintain computer server hardware and software; analyzing problems and monitoring performance to ensure their efficiency and availability to users. They will install and maintain network hardware and software, analyze problems, and monitor networks to ensure their efficiency and availability to users. This individual will gather data to evaluate the system’s performance, identify user needs, and determine system and network requirements to make recommendations for future system upgrades. They will monitor network and computer systems security, respond to cyber-attacks, and gather data and evidence to be used in prosecuting cyber-crime. Additionally, they will provide technical assistance to end users to resolve hardware, software, and network problems.
What You’ll Do:
- Maintain and administer computer networks and related computing environments including computer hardware, systems software, and applications software.
- Design and monitor data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware, software, or other network and system problems, and replace defective components when necessary.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Configure, monitor and maintain on-premises Active Directory instance.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain Office 365 instance and applications.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain virus protection software.
- Configure, monitor, and maintain mobile device management consoles.
- Operate master consoles to monitor the performance of computer systems and networks, and to coordinate computer network access and use.
- Design, configure, and test computer hardware, networking software and operating system software.
- Monitor network performance to determine whether adjustments need to be made, and to determine where changes will need to be made in the future.
- Confer with computer and network users by telephone, email, remote connectivity, and in person about how to solve existing system problems.
- Address support request tickets in a timely manner and elevates support requests in accordance with department policies.
- Coordinate with vendors and with company personnel to facilitate purchases.
- Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures, and maintain control records.
- Maintain logs and configuration documentation related to network and computer system functions, as well as maintenance and repair records.
- Performs computer and data recovery operations from system backups in the event of computer system failure.
- Adheres to coding and documentation standards defined by the Director of Information Technology.
- Maintains agency client and employee confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential.
- Assists the Director of Information Technology in the development and maintenance of the organization Computer Systems Risk Management plan, including identification and implementation of risk mitigation strategies.
- Establishes responsible deadlines and personal work plans.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- This position is full-time (40 hours a week) working normal business hours.
What We’re Looking For:
- Possession of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or networking preferred. A minimum of one year’s experience in installing and/or maintaining network equipment and/or computer server systems required.
- Possession of an associate’s degree with course concentration in the areas of computer science, information systems, or networking, with a minimum of four years’ experience in installing and maintaining network equipment and/or computer servers will be considered. Additional experience will be considered in lieu of an associate’s degree.
- Additional certifications in computer operations, computer networking, and/or computer system security preferred.
