Industry Summary
The title insurance business provides financial protection for banking and real estate transactions. It is highly technical and requires a detailed knowledge and understanding of the law and its application to banking, real estate, construction and insurance transactions.
The Position
We are looking for a paralegal who will report directly to our General Counsel, with a secondary report to our Production Manager. The Production Manager oversees all the title searchers and examiners, and handles, in conjunction with our General Counsel, the most complex commercial and farmland examinations. The training would begin as an examiner, and then as a senior examiner, as the learning curve dictates. You would also work directly with our General Counsel in his role as a partner in our affiliated law firm, CTE Law, PLLC. In this role, you would learn and be responsible for the preliminary drafting of a range of documents related to title insurance and real estate.
Skills Required
· Critical thinking skills with a high attention to detail and accuracy in the examination of documents;
· Analytical mindset with complex problem solving and inductive reasoning skills;
· Ability to assess risk and develop a strong sense of business judgement based on state laws, statutes and underwriter guidelines;
· Ability to working in a fast-paced, high volume, team environment
· Strong customer service skills with good communication and inter-personal skills;
· Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel), title insurance software.
