Director for Elementary Instruction
Summary of Position: Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services to develop, direct, supervise, and coordinate common expectations and professional development around best practices in instruction.
Work Year: 12 months
Key Responsibilities:
- Curriculum and Instruction:
- Overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of elementary curriculum and interventions.
- Ensuring alignment with state and national standards and mandates.
- Providing leadership in the implementation of effective instructional strategies.
- Monitoring student achievement and using data to inform instructional decisions.
- School Leadership and Support:
- Providing support and guidance to elementary school principals.
- Facilitating professional development for teachers and administrators.
- Promoting a positive and collaborative culture.
- Providing support to new teachers and mentors.
- Assessment and Data Analysis:
- Analyzing student data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
- Using data to inform decision-making at the district and school levels.
- Community and Parent Engagement:
- Building and maintaining positive relationships with parents and the community.
- Communicating effectively with stakeholders about school programs and initiatives.
- Policy and Compliance:
- Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local education laws and regulations.
- Developing and implementing district policies related to elementary education.
- Managing budgets and resources effectively.
- Coordinating ESEA services and grant management.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Current Illinois Professional Educator License with an Administrative Endorsement preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
- Extensive successful experience in researching and implementing practices related to instruction, curriculum development, professional development and supervision.
- Successful leadership/administrative experience in designing and implementing effective instructional programs and supervising, mentoring and training staff/personnel, preferable in more than one capacity.
- 5 or more years of successful teaching experience
- Strong in collaborative leadership
- Experience:
- Significant experience in elementary education, including teaching and leadership roles.
- Demonstrated leadership experience.
- Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices.
- Skills:
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
- Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
