Director for Elementary Instruction
Summary of Position: Under general supervision of the Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services to develop, direct, supervise, and coordinate common expectations and professional development around best practices in instruction.
Work Year: 12 months
Key Responsibilities:
  • Curriculum and Instruction:
    • Overseeing the development, implementation, and evaluation of elementary curriculum and interventions.
    • Ensuring alignment with state and national standards and mandates.
    • Providing leadership in the implementation of effective instructional strategies.
    • Monitoring student achievement and using data to inform instructional decisions.
  • School Leadership and Support:
    • Providing support and guidance to elementary school principals.
    • Facilitating professional development for teachers and administrators.
    • Promoting a positive and collaborative culture.
    • Providing support to new teachers and mentors.
  • Assessment and Data Analysis:
    • Analyzing student data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Using data to inform decision-making at the district and school levels.
  • Community and Parent Engagement:
    • Building and maintaining positive relationships with parents and the community.
    • Communicating effectively with stakeholders about school programs and initiatives.
  • Policy and Compliance:
    • Ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local education laws and regulations.
    • Developing and implementing district policies related to elementary education.
    • Managing budgets and resources effectively.
    • Coordinating ESEA services and grant management.
Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Current Illinois Professional Educator License with an Administrative Endorsement preferred
    • Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university.
    • Extensive successful experience in researching and implementing practices related to instruction, curriculum development, professional development and supervision.
    • Successful leadership/administrative experience in designing and implementing effective instructional programs and supervising, mentoring and training staff/personnel, preferable in more than one capacity.
    • 5 or more years of successful teaching experience
    • Strong in collaborative leadership
  • Experience:
    • Significant experience in elementary education, including teaching and leadership roles.
    • Demonstrated leadership experience.
    • Knowledge of current educational trends and best practices.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and communication skills.
    • Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.
    • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships.
    • Knowledge of curriculum development and instructional strategies.
