What are the responsibilities and job description for the Middle School Behavior Intervention Specialist (2025-2026, 1 YR ONLY) position at Community Unit School District 200?
DEFINITION: The Behavior Intervention Specialist will lead our alternative to suspension program. They will work with their partner schools to provide students ongoing educational opportunities as well as social-emotional support while in the program.

- Program Development
- Develop and support middle school alternative to suspension program
- Work with the partner school to individualize student support
- Provide direct and consultative support and assess the individual needs to students
- Student Support
- Supports student content area academics. Have knowledge of middle curriculum and content
- Support student social and emotional wellbeing
- Demonstrate an understanding, patient, respectful and receptive attitude toward exceptional needs students of varied age groups
- Communication
- Effective communication to student, home school, and families
- Facilitate reentry meetings with students, home school, and families
- Consult with administrators, psychologists, teachers and parents, serve as an integral member of the student services team, attend meetings and parent conferences, as needed
- Requirements
- State of Illinois Professional Educator License
- Endorsements in Secondary Education and General Administrative
- LBS1 preferred
- Bi-lingual preferred
