POSITION CONCEPT :
The Day Services Manager (DSM) core responsibilities begin with directly supervising the operations of, scheduling for, and programming to the Day Program. They will be responsible to work in conjunction with or in advocacy of each person served to develop engaging activities to promote having fun while building life skills and relationships based on their likes, interests and personal outcome measures within their Life Plans. The DSM is a direct supervisory position and will be a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP). They will be responsible for the direct oversight of programmatic scheduling, staffing, training and interviewing employees. They will track / document daily / monthly / annual progress for each person’s chosen Personal Outcome Measures (POMS) / Goals. This position plays a key role in staff development through coaching, supporting and role modeling positive core competencies and person-centered approaches to the Day Direct Support Professionals. This position reports directly to the Day Services Manager (DSM) and works alongside other key clinical supports.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES :
The DSM will :
- Be a representative of CWI, the Day Services Team, and people served during Life Plan meetings, special team meetings, and other clinically driven meetings. Bring forward and communicate any team driven discussion points for proactive person specific approaches.
a) Member to person served circle of support. Develop positive working relationships with persons served, their external team members, and advocates / guardians to promote positive life experiences consistent with person served values and open communication.
b) Openly communicate any changes, concerns or updates regarding people served to their Care Managers, advocates, guardians, and Residential representatives.
c) Ensure ADSM, QIDP, DSP and other clinical supports are up to date and current on any pertinent changes to plans of support for each person served.
d) Actively participate in Managers and All Management Meetings and others as assigned.
e) Assume Administrator On Call (Admin On Call) responsibilities at least quarterly for (1) week.
a) Work with other clinical supports (BIS, HSS, HSSA, PT, OT, Clinic Counselors) in the site to create a barrier-free environment, rich with choices, meaningful activities, and interests reflected in a therapeutic manner with a group setting.
b) Plan, schedule, and provide support when needed during active programming and / or during community integration.
c) Establish coverage for vacations, leaves of absence etc. for direct support as needed.
a) Directly guide, encourage, and support participants to improve, increase or maintain their skills in communication, mobility, physical fitness / health, volunteer opportunities, community inclusion, personal care, and in the use of their self-calming or coping strategies.
b) Provide individualized levels of supervision as written within each participant’s individualized plans.
c) Track, Schedule and provide opportunities for Day Program staff to remain compliant and current in necessary trainings according to their job responsibilities.
a) Have an affinity for working with people. Must have ability to understand and adjust personal working / communication style to enhance / develop positive and mutually respectful relationships with individuals with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and co-occurring diagnoses.
b) Participate in the interview, program orientation and support mentorship process for new employees.
c) Completion and delivery of orientation, annual and as needed staff evaluations.
a) Run reports in the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system AWARDS to ensure electronic signatures captured contemporaneously.
b) Complete additional AWARDS reports as assigned.
a) Are responsible for their part of any in-service training and person specific training.
b) Participate in committees within program, within agency, or representing CWI.
c) With specialized certificates may deliver individualized trainings such as but not limited to : SCIPR, First Aid and CPR.
a) Ensure safe and well-maintained program site and vehicle(s). Communicate and schedule when repairs are required.
b) Complete and supervise quarterly Case Record Reviews. Ensure follow up as necessary.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :
Must have at least one year’s experience in providing services to persons with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities. Bachelor’s degree in a human services discipline or a bachelor’s degree with training or course work in human services and management experience preferred.
