TITLE: Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR)
LOCATION: 37 Everts Ave, Foothills Clinic with travel to other programs.
TYPE OF EMPLOYMENT: Benefited, 30 hours, w/potential to increase based on caseload needs.
POSITION CONCEPT
The Occupational Therapist (OTR) is responsible for providing people with intellectual/developmental disabilities with treatment to help them develop and improve their ability to complete everyday tasks related to their daily life. Duties include performing initial assessments and teaching people to use adaptive technology and coaching them through therapeutic activities. As an OTR, you have ongoing collaboration with physicians, family, and treatment team members to establish individualized, meaningful, and appropriate therapy.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assess and evaluate patient’s condition and needs
- Develop treatment plans to address person’s needs and help them meet their goals
- Assesses and makes environmental and other adaptation to allow the patient to live their life to their fullest.
- Provides direct and indirect occupational therapy services as specified in each patient’s treatment plan.
- Teaching patient’s how to use adaptive technology and coach them through therapeutic activities
- Provide any necessary training to staff who support the person receiving services
- Assess and documentation of progress for evaluation, billing and reporting purposes
- Consults with treatment team members as appropriate regarding the patients’ physical, motor and sensory development
- Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as apparent or assigned (Safe Person Handling Committee, Wheelchair assessments, Mechanical Lift Training and Assessments, Dining Assessments.)
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- NYS Licensure and registration as an Occupational Therapist by the NYS Dept of Education
- Professional experience working with adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities is preferred
- Professional experience providing Occupational Therapy services is preferred.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Valid NYS driver’s license that meets agency standards.
