Description
Community Workforce Solutions is looking for a talented individual who loves working with special education students transitioning from high school to adulthood successfully in the Nash County Area. Under the supervision of the Transition Services Manager, the School-Based Transition Instructor is responsible for providing direct services to students (ages 14-22) with disabilities. This includes understanding and being able to communicate individually or in groups, to facilitate learning in the 5 areas outlined by WIOA regulations:
- Job exploration and counseling
- Work-based learning
- Workplace readiness
- Instruction in self-advocacy
- Post-secondary education counseling
Responsibilities
- Help students become gainfully employed
- Help students successfully engage in post-secondary education & training
- Lesson & Curriculum Planning
Required Education / Experience
- Bachelor's in Special Education, Exceptional Children, High-School Education, or a closely related field, preferred.
- Possess a valid NC Driver’s License and have a driving record that adheres to Agency standards.
- Extensive experience working with individuals with Developmental Disabilities may substitute for a degree.
- Able to work in various schools around Nash county.
- Pass a background check and drug screening (final steps of the interview process).
Physical Requirements
- The position is considered sedentary to light, requiring 50% sedentary and 50% mobility.
- Travel between multiple schools within the county.
- Lifting less than 10 pounds.
- Requires visual observation and the ability to communicate with a variety of individuals.
Compensation
- $21.50 - $23.00 per hour (DOE)
