About Our Before and After School Program
We are proud to partner with the Ridley School District in offering a Before and After School program. As a leading non-profit in youth development, we aim to make a positive impact on our youth and community.
Program Details
We operate at two sites: Amosland Elementary and Edgewood Elementary. The program is available Monday to Friday from 6:45am to 8:50am in the morning and from 2:45pm to 6:00pm in the afternoon.
Job Summary
The YMCA is seeking a qualified individual to oversee the daily operations of the Child Care classroom. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating the daily activities while upholding the YMCA Mission and its core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement daily lesson plans based on the current PA Early Learning Standards.
- Create a safe and engaging environment that promotes member safety and participation.
- Maintain positive relationships with families, providing regular updates on child growth and development.
- Collaborate with Assistant Teachers and Aides to plan and implement program activities.
- Ensure accurate record-keeping, including attendance, developmental screenings, and incident reports.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of an Associate Degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education, or the human services field.
- At least 3 years (3,750 hours) of documented experience working with children.
- Certifications in American Heart Association or American Red Cross CPR/AED and Pediatric First Aid within 15 days of hire.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with a commitment to continuous quality program improvements.
- The ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Physical Demands
This role requires:
- The ability to lift and carry 15-50 pounds.
- Sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to perform essential functions and safely supervise children's activities.
- The ability to see, hear, direct, and assist members, guests, and staff to ensure safety.
