What are the responsibilities and job description for the Radiology Tech position at CommWell?
GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
• Performs radiologic examinations as per provider’s orders.
• Monitors Electronic Health Record (EHR) to assure completion of radiology orders and tasks.
• Maintains radiology logs with patient’s demographic and test information manually and documents in the EHR.
• Coordinates services with contracted vendor
- sends digital images to contracted vendor for final interpretation by radiologist
- obtains and logs radiology test results from vendor
- checks vendor bill for accuracy before going to billing office.
• Keeps inventory of all x-ray supplies and initiates order when necessary.
• Responsible for normal functioning of x-ray equipment.
• Monitors receipt of radiology test results and directly notifies ordering provider of critical results
• Calls patient to return to clinic if additional x-ray exams needed as requested by provider.
• Maintains current registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Ensures annual preventative maintenance and calibration of x-ray equipment is completed.
• Assists in work-up of patients when necessary by doing vital signs, taking medical history, rooming patient, etc.
• Assists in the lab when necessary and feasible
- Performs phlebotomy and collects other specimens
- Performs Point of Care testing on approved CLIA Waived Tests
- Prepares specimens and sends to lab.
- Maintains lab manifest
- Monitors EHR to assure completion of lab orders and tasks
• Trains appropriate staff as back-up in x-ray techniques and lab procedures.
• Validates radiology competencies of other CommWell Health colleagues that perform radiology studies.
• Participates in continuing education as appropriate and feasible.
• Serves as member of Radiation Safety Program Committee.
• Serves as radiology resource for other CommWell Health colleagues that perform radiology studies.
• Assists VP of Quality and Corporate Compliance with administration of the CommWell Health Radiation Safety Program.
• Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSURES
• BLS Certificate from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
• Current registration as a Registered Radiologic Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• Certified Phlebotomist with National Phlebotomy Association (Preferred)
• Valid NC Driver’s License
