Responsibilities And Duties
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and managers to edit technical documents for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and style.
- Evaluate the appropriate level of edit (copy, substantive, developmental) based on document complexity, purpose, and deadlines.
- Prepare, format, and finalize technical reports, procedures, presentations, and other materials.
- Manage multiple editing projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Maintain professional communication with internal clients and external collaborators.
- Use Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Acrobat to format and finalize documents in compliance with LANL standards.
- Advanced knowledge of English grammar, punctuation, and usage.
- Proven experience editing complex technical documents across various disciplines.
- Ability to learn and understand new technical terminology and scientific concepts.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively while managing multiple priorities.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience working with highly technical or scientific content.
- Familiarity with LANL or other large, complex institutions or multi-agency environments.
- Experience editing sensitive or classified materials.
- Understanding of Microsoft Word styles/templates and PowerPoint formatting tools.
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to adapt to shifting priorities and tight deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, or a related field.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant editing experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
