Program Manager Controller Business Systems

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Program Manager in the Controller Business Systems Group to support the Labs finance and accounting business systems.
Position Overview
In this role, the Program Manager will collaborate with finance and accounting senior managers, as well as internal Laboratory organizations, to define requirements, processes, and objectives for current and future financial business system enhancements. The selected candidate will be responsible for:
- Managing the planning, development, and implementation of the Laboratorys business systems.
- Overseeing the maintenance, modification, and enhancement of these critical systems.
The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills to manage a team of professionals, inspire and mentor team members, and develop strategies that streamline business systems. They will also play a key role in shaping the long-term Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) strategy, ensuring technology initiatives align with broader business objectives.
As LANL prepares for a new ERP system implementation, the Program Manager must be at the forefront of emerging technologies, leading the team in identifying, evaluating, and deploying innovative tools that enhance process efficiency.

Minimum Job Requirements
Leadership & Team Management
- Demonstrated experience in performance management, employee development, and succession planning.
- Proven leadership in business systems organizations, customer and stakeholder relations, and cost-effective IT service delivery.
- Extensive experience managing team dynamics, resolving conflicts, and fostering collaboration.
- Strong ability to work cross-functionally with technical and functional teams.
Business Systems Expertise
- Extensive experience in business system requirements gathering, process modeling, data analysis, system design, testing, and implementation.
- Deep knowledge of accounting and financial principles.
- Advanced experience with ERP systems, particularly Oracle EBS or similar platforms (SAP, PeopleSoft, Oracle Cloud).
- Proven leadership in ERP implementations, upgrades, and migrations, including change management efforts.
Technical Proficiency & Innovation
- Strong background in finance and accounting business systems.
- Extensive experience in system integration and process improvement.
- Ability to advise senior management on technology acquisitions and system enhancements.
- Expertise in emerging technologies (cloud computing, AI, data analytics) and their integration into business systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams).
Stakeholder Management & Communication
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to facilitate decision-making and build consensus.
- Strong ability to negotiate and engage with stakeholders at all levels.
Education & Experience
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- 8 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the position.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with business systems such as Oracle, Concur, Empath, MicroStrategy Enterprise Reporting, Pricing and Estimating Module (PEM).
- Masters degree in Management Information Systems (MIS), CPA, or MBA.
- Extensive experience leading large-scale ERP implementations, consolidating multiple systems and processes.
