Compa Industries is searching for qualified candidates for a Weapons Engineer/Scientist position at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM.


Salary: $76/hr - $82/hr

Location: Los Alamos, NM

Citizenship: US citizenship Required

Work Schedule: 5/8s

Clearance: Need to be able to acquire Q clearance

Relocation: $5,000 relocation allowance permitted.


Impact

As a Senior Mechanical Design Checker, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the quality, safety, and compliance of mechanical designs for critical national security projects. Your expertise will directly contribute to the success of high-stakes initiatives within the Nuclear Security Enterprise.


Responsibilities and Duties

  • Review and validate Creo models and drawings for form, fit, and function
  • Conduct tolerance and stack analysis
  • Ensure product definitions meet producibility requirements while minimizing defects
  • Recommend improvements compliant with NNSA, laboratory, and industry standards
  • Develop and interpret 3D CAD models, standards, practices, and procedures
  • Lead design, manufacture, assembly, and test reviews
  • Mentor and guide other checkers and design staff
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of engineers, physicists, scientists, and technicians


Minimum Qualifications

  • Active Q clearance
  • Extensive experience with Creo 3D CAD software, PDMLink PLM, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up analysis software
  • Expert knowledge of ASME Y14 standards, particularly Y14.5-2009 and Y14.41 MBD
  • Proficiency in weapon-system configuration management workflows
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Proven leadership experience in guiding design and modeling techniques


Desired Skills

  • Significant experience in draft/design work in both weapons and non-weapons arenas
  • Experience in developing and implementing organizational design and/or drafting standards


Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology or related field from an accredited institution
  • 8 years of directly related experience
  • OR an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation
