ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Automotive Electronic Products (AEP) team as part of CompalUSA, work based in Goleta California. A hybrid work model combining the flexibility of remote work at home with the benefits of on-site collaboration in the Goleta, CA development facility will be employed. The Senior Electrical Engineer will be responsible for design, integration, test and troubleshooting of high-density electronic assemblies.
Major responsibilities:
Create effective electronic assembly designs to meet size, quality, reliability, and prototype integration/test requirements as Responsible Engineering Authority. Selection of applicable electronic components to meet system level requirements related to the design and validation testing of infrared camera systems. Lead technical discussions with electronic component suppliers to clarify specifications, resolve issues, etc. Support system validation test activities and transition to production while contributing to development of effective design rules and guidelines for high density electronic assemblies. Mentor young engineers and engineering interns.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum 10 years’ experience designing, integrating and testing electronic assemblies for various applications, including automotive safety, security, fire and industrial inspection
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, or other applicable credentials
- Expertise with circuit design and simulation tools, e.g., Altium, Cadence, PSPICE, LTspice, etc.
- Experience routing high density PCB assemblies in consideration of manufacturing and EMI/EMC requirements
- Familiarity with various physical component and module interfaces, e.g., MIPI CSI-2, USB, GMSL, FPD-Link III, CAN, RS-232, etc.
- Experience designing FPGA & SOC based systems from R&D through production
- Demonstrated contributions to functional and EMC validation testing
- Familiarity with DFMEA risk management principles, infrared system performance metrics and analysis tools a plus, e.g., IQRM NETD, MTF and Matlab
- Experience managing internal and external development resources to planned budget and schedule
- Collaborative mindset
