Operations Job Summary :

We are an engineering supplier company and are seeking an experienced leader to oversee staff, ensure client satisfaction, and drive business growth. The role involves leading projects to completion on time and within budget, developing and mentoring team members, and building relationships with clients and community partners. The ideal candidate will have 8–10 years of relevant experience, a background in sales and business development, and strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Experience in the industrial or manufacturing industry is highly preferred.

Business Manager Essential Duties & Responsibilities :

Projects

  • Responsible for customer satisfaction of projects and services.
  • Collaborate with management teams to effectively communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely and clear fashion.
  • Collaborate with management teams to effectively oversee the estimation of the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals.
  • Oversee all project material purchases assigned to profit center.
  • Set and oversee the management of project expectations, milestones, and deliverables with team members and other stakeholders with associated communications documents.
  • Oversee project post mortems and create a recommendations report in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements.
  • Ensure company engineering best practices and standards are followed.
  • Conduct regular audits of engineering practices.

People / Employees

  • Encourage and engage in coaching, mentoring, motivating and supervising project team members and contractors, and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of engineering staff and recommend outsource options when necessary.
  • Support and participate in the company mentoring program.
  • Review and approve time sheets and time off requests for all members of assigned department.
  • Oversee the maintenance of the resource schedule for all members of assigned department to maximize departmental utilization rates and fulfill all project requirements.
  • Develop and deliver performance reviews for assigned staff members.
  • Office / Business Development

  • Define goals and deliverables that support business goals in collaboration with senior management and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports of the profit center.
  • Provide engineering support to company sales and proposal efforts.
  • Build, develop, and grow any business relationships vital to the success of the project.
  • Community networking with regional distributors and suppliers.
  • Additional Responsibilities

  • Mentor and assist team members with all project responsibilities.
  • Recommend and support initiatives to maximize engineering efficiencies.
  • Help assure the viability, functionality and effectiveness of essential engineering tools.
  • Drive continuous improvement with respect to engineering standards, practices, methods, and tools.
  • Provide continuous positive and constructive feedback to assigned staff members.
  • Trade Show Support.
  • Sales Prospecting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Business Manager Requirements :

  • 8-10 years relevant experience; sales background, overall business acumen, familiarity with industrial / manufacturing industry and operations.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong leadership skills and previous managerial experience required
  • Advanced PC skills with demonstrated knowledge and application of Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, SharePoint and CRM
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and handle large volume of detail with accuracy and reliability
  • Strong people skills the ability to interact with new and existing clients face-to-face
  • Technical understanding of industrial controls
