We are a premier convenience store distribution partner, is searching for a high-level Controller to join our team in Little Rock, Arkansas. Position Overview:
As the Controller, you will not only oversee our accounting functions but also play a key role in managing Human Resources. You'll be responsible for financial reporting, analyzing trends, creating policies and procedures, and ensuring effective risk management. On the HR side, you will oversee key functions like hiring, employee performance management, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and HR best practices. This position reports to and supports our Chief Operating/Financial Officer (COO/CFO) in driving that success forward.
Financial Leadership:
- Financial Reporting: Build, manage, and deliver accurate financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, etc.) in line with GAAP principles.
- Trend Analysis: Monitor and analyze financial and sales data to provide actionable insights for the executive team.
- Cash Flow Management: Conduct cash flow analysis and projections to ensure the company maintains sufficient liquidity for operations and growth
- Cost Controls: Implement and manage cost-saving initiatives and budget oversight to drive financial efficiency.
- Policy Development: Create and refine financial policies and procedures, ensuring accountability and clarity within the accounting team.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate financial and operational risks by developing and enforcing internal controls.
Human Resources Management:
- Hiring & Onboarding: Lead recruitment efforts for accounting and administrative staff, ensuring the hiring of qualified candidates who fit our company culture.
- Performance Management: Oversee performance reviews, employee development plans, and corrective actions as needed, ensuring a motivated and high-performing team.
- Payroll and Benefits Oversight: Ensure accurate payroll processing and manage employee benefits programs.
- Compliance: Maintain compliance with employment laws and regulations, ensuring the company operates within all legal frameworks.
- HR Policies & Procedures: Develop and implement HR policies, including employee handbooks, performance evaluation protocols, and disciplinary processes.
Executive Reporting:
Provide regular financial and HR updates to the executive team, helping drive both financial and operational strategy.
Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience in a senior accounting or financial management role, with experience reporting to the executive team.
- Strong knowledge of HR functions, including hiring, performance management, and compliance with labor laws.
- Expert understanding of GAAP accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance.
- Proficiency in financial forecasting, budgeting, and risk management.
- Leadership skills with proven experience managing cross-functional teams in both finance and HR.
- High attention to detail and advanced proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar systems preferred).
- Experience developing policies that drive both financial and HR operational efficiency.
