POSITION SUMMARY
Radiology Partners is looking for an Interventional Radiology Medical Assistant that will be responsible for accurate and complete scheduling, chart preparation, and verification and pre-authorization of insurance benefits for scheduled interventional radiology patients prior to the scheduled date of service. The IR Medical Assistant will use a variety of electronic and other means to gather and verify demographic and insurance information, including contacting patients, insurance companies and referring physicians when necessary. The IR Clinical Coordinator process contributes to ensure proper payment and improve patient satisfaction.
This is an onsite position in Tampa, FL.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare clients for procedures by reviewing medical histories, medications, and vital signs; answer questions related to procedures and follow-up care.
- Handle clinical calls from clients, triage to Physician Assistant (PA) when necessary, and manage incoming calls from hospital staff regarding procedures and reports.
- Coordinate scheduling of procedures, obtain pre-authorizations, and assist with billing and insurance inquiries.
- Maintain treatment room supplies, set up for all procedures, and ensure compliance with chart preparation and insurance authorization before visits.
- Work with radiologists and staff to ensure missing clinical notes, outstanding charts, and encounters are addressed.
- Communicate with patients to verify demographic and insurance information, ensuring accurate updates and corrections.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams, insurance companies, and patients to resolve issues and ensure all pre-certifications and requirements are met before procedures.
DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma preferred; Medical Assistant Certification required, with 2 years of Medical Assisting and Clerical experience preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred; ability to learn and retain medical care and procedure information.
- General knowledge of radiology and experience in a clinical setting preferred; prior authorization experience and knowledge of health insurance is a plus.
- Strong understanding of patient registration, insurance precertification, and medical terminology, maintaining confidentiality of records.
- Problem-solving, conflict resolution skills, and the ability to identify and address issues before they escalate.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and clinical documentation software (e.g., EPIC); excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent customer service, work effectiveness, and strong interpersonal skills, with a proactive, efficient approach to handling multiple projects.
