These are the essential requirements to serve in the Teacher in Residence role:

Bachelor's degree and valid California Teaching Credential (as applicable to the position requirements) with English Language Learner Authorization.

Multiple Subject and/or Single Subject

1 years of verified and successful teaching experience in a public school setting.

Experience working with blended, online, personalized, and/or virtual learning schools preferred.

Experience and strong theoretical and practical knowledge base of educational best practices, recent research in education, and CA standards curriculum and objectives.

Proficient in digital engagement: computer & software skills. (ie Google Suite and Microsoft), social media literacy (ie Twitter, Google Classroom, website navigation), information & communication (email, intranets), web & mobile applications, interpersonal & social networking skills, and student/school systems (ie student information system, digital courseware, online learning platforms).
Example duties for the Teacher in Residence may include:

Provide academic support to teachers and scholars, including curriculum assistance and on-call substitute teaching as needed.

Communicate class objectives, weekly assignments, homework requirements, grading rubrics, and scales to scholars and learning coaches.

Monitor scholar progress, provide constructive feedback, and support mastery of subject content.

Utilize diverse teaching methods to create opportunities for deep understanding and differentiated instruction for scholars of all ability levels, including those with special needs.

Analyze benchmark exam results to deliver targeted instruction for low-performing scholars and collaborate with departments to ensure curriculum accessibility.

Maintain accurate records in student information systems, including attendance, coursework, scholar logs, report cards, and assessment data.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support scholars with additional needs and implement inclusive teaching strategies.

Participate in scholar recruitment and retention initiatives, engagement activities, and school-wide events.

Engage in professional development opportunities and contribute to staff training initiatives.

Assist in achieving department and organizational goals by providing support and collaboration as needed.

Work Environment:
Position is based at the Orange County Learning Center two (2) days per week. May be required to also work from the Central Office, Learning Center, or other Compass location as directed by supervisor or the Superintendent & CEO. Must be able to work a flexible schedule as needed to meet the needs of scholars, Learning Coaches (parents), and staff. Must be able to travel throughout the State of California for school-related activities. Note - you will be required to notify HR if any work will be performed in San Francisco or out of state for any period of time for review and pre-approval.
