Our client is a stealth mode Silicon Valley biotech company developing a novel electrochemical, point-of-care diagnostics platform.
Position Overview :
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Assay Development Scientist to lead the research, development and commercialization of our point-of-care electrochemical diagnostics assays and device platform.
This role reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer (CTO).
The ideal candidate will have an academic background in life sciences as well as industry experience in immunoassay design, optimization and validation.
Our aim is to develop novel electrochemical assays, so functional knowledge of electrochemistry is beneficial.
Wet lab research will be a frequent requirement for this position, and it is expected that candidates will have extensive hands-on experience in this area.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead hands-on, benchtop research to develop and optimize electrochemical immunoassays for healthcare diagnostics applications.
Design, validate and commercialize robust and scalable diagnostic assays for point of-care use.
Collaborate with the hardware team to integrate assays into diagnostic devices.
Design and execute experiments to optimize sensitivity, specificity and reproducibility of immunoassays.
Analyze data, debug failures, and refine assays to meet regulatory and commercial standards.
Contribute to the preparation of technical documentation, including validation reports and regulatory submissions.
Stay current with advancements in molecular biology, bioengineering, diagnostics, materials science and electrochemistry.
Required Qualifications :
PhD in life sciences, preferably Molecular Biology, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering or Biochemistry.
Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in developing, validating, and commercializing immunoassays.
Proven ability to work independently in a hands-on research capacity.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a detail-oriented approach to experimental design and execution.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with point-of-care diagnostics platforms and familiarity with system level integration of diagnostic devices.
Expertise in electrochemical assay design, debug, optimization, and validation.
Functional knowledge of electrochemistry and electrochemical assay analysis techniques (CA, CV, SWV, etc.).
Knowledge of regulatory standards for healthcare diagnostics, including FDA validation requirements.
