About the team: The C-Work team helps San Francisco parents remove barriers to employment, develop job readiness skills, enroll in job training programs, and get hired into high-quality jobs.
Compensation: $85,000 - $87,000 annually great benefits
Schedule: Full time, Monday - Friday, primarily during standard business hours
Location: 37 Grove St., San Francisco (less than a block from BART/Muni). Fully on site.

Role Overview:
The Program Director leads Compass’ workforce development program, C-Work, which helps people remove barriers to employment, enroll in job-training programs, learn job search skills, and find jobs. We do this through goal setting, resource navigation, job search instruction, and community and employer connections provided in a mix of group and one-on-one settings.
This is an exciting time to lead the C-Work team! We are continuing to build out a new program that helps people become childcare/preschool teachers and expanding our community partnerships in other sectors. We’re looking for someone with deep knowledge of workforce development who will help the C-Work team build client skills while developing strong partnerships with other San Francisco workforce organizations.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Team Management (40%):
- Provide direct supervision and support to C-Work team members. This includes hiring, onboarding, training and professional development, evaluation, and ongoing coaching and supervision.
- Ensure that all clients feel strongly supported and receive high quality services. Step in to support both staff and clients when difficult situations arise.
Reporting & Program Management (30%):
- Ensure that the C-Work program meets funder goals and requirements.
- With Impact Learning team, monitor data quality for the program. Use data to set program goals and improve outcomes.
- With Finance team, develop and manage the program budget and ensure that funds are fully expended over the course of each year.
- With Development team, complete grant reports and applications for new and ongoing funding.
Program Development (Internal and External) (30%):
- Oversee development of workshops and standard of practice for working with clients.
- Build relationships with other community organizations focused on workforce development or specific client populations, exploring opportunities for referrals and potential partnerships.
- Meet with potential employers to understand hiring needs and recruitment processes.
The Program Director should have these skills and experiences:
- At least three years of professional experience in Workforce Development is required.
- At least two years of experience supervising staff as a Manager or Director is required.
- Deep understanding of: issues facing homeless and at-risk families; experience delivering (or managing delivery of) trauma-informed care.
- Proficiency with computer programs, including Word/Excel/Outlook/Salesforce.
- Deep commitment to and demonstrated success discussing, integrating, and promoting diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging throughout a complex and dynamic organization.
- Bilingual Spanish is a major plus.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: $85,000 - 87,000 annually. Exempt.
- Paid time off: 4 weeks of vacation your first year, increasing to 5 in your second. Also paid holidays, sick time, family leave, time off for education.
- Insurance: health, dental and vision insurance are fully covered by Compass for employees and dependent children. We also provide long term disability and life insurance.
- Retirement: after one year of work, Compass contributes an amount equal to 5% of your salary into a retirement account; this vests during years 2-6.
