Job Description
- Performance Enhancement: Design and implement individualized performance enhancement programs for fighter aircrew personnel.
- Strength & Conditioning: Develop and oversee tailored strength and conditioning regimens to optimize physical performance.
- Preventive Maintenance: Provide proactive strategies and interventions to minimize the risk of injuries.
- Medical Referrals: Facilitate timely referrals to appropriate medical professionals for necessary diagnostic and treatment services.
- Initial Evaluations: Conduct thorough initial evaluations of fighter aircrew to assess their physical condition and identify areas for improvement.
- Individualized Training Programs: Create and manage personalized training programs based on individual needs and goals.
- Record Keeping: Establish and maintain accurate records for all fighter aircrew personnel, documenting evaluations, training plans, and progress.
- Prehabilitative Services: Deliver prehabilitative services to strengthen the core musculoskeletal (MSK) system, focusing on neck and back injury prevention.
- MSK Strengthening & Education: Contribute to the design and implementation of an MSK strengthening and healthy lifestyle education program as part of a comprehensive health maintenance initiative.
- Injury Prevention Guidance: Advise unit commanders and individual aircrew members on injury prevention strategies and best practices.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for improvement in fitness programs and injury prevention protocols.
- Protocol Development: Develop and maintain protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for fitness programs.
- Possess a Master’s degree in an accredited exercise science, health science, or physical education-related discipline.
- Current Athletic Trainer license.
- Current certification through the Board of Certification (BOC) for the Athletic Trainer.
- Experience and certification in the field of strength and conditioning through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) (or equivalent) is recommended, but not required.
- Skill in effective team dynamics in order to facilitate the exchange of information/education, enhance goal achievement behavior, and identify changes in system or policy at any level.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations, professional code of ethics, AF guidance, DoD guidance, and practice standards in order to ensure adherence within legal and professional parameters.
- Knowledge and skill in using quality and risk management programs and processes to identify issues to improve practice and ensure compliance.
- A minimum of 24 months of demonstrated experience performing primary duties as an Athletic Trainer. Athletic training experience, primary duties, must be performed in professional, collegiate sports, and/or military setting.
- Must show demonstrated performance as an Athletic Trainer within the last 2 years.
- Oral and written communication skills in order to meaningfully interact with peers, outside agencies, vendors providers and Military Health System (MHS) stakeholders to provide briefings, presentations, research, and develop metrics to demonstrate or advance effective and efficient neck and back pain prevention.
- There are vaccination requirements for employees working on this government contract. Proof of current immunization is required for: Hepatitis B, MMR, TDap, Varicella, Flu, and PPD.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.
