Job Summary
We are seeking a versatile and skilled AV Technician to join our small but dynamic conference team. This role focuses on managing the audio-visual setup and support for events while also assisting in other areas of the operations as needed. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, adaptable, and committed to providing exceptional service to clients and guests.
Key Responsibilities:
Audio-Visual (AV) Support:
- Set up, operate, and maintain AV equipment, including projectors, microphones, sound systems, video conferencing tools, lighting, and displays.
- Troubleshoot and resolve AV technical issues promptly to minimize disruptions during events.
- Work closely with clients to ensure their AV needs are met, providing guidance on technology use and delivering a seamless experience.
- Conduct pre-event equipment checks to ensure all systems are functioning correctly.
- Maintain an inventory of AV equipment, coordinating repairs or replacements as needed.
Event Support:
- Collaborate with the event team to ensure the successful execution of conferences, meetings, and presentations.
- Assist with room setups and teardowns, including arranging furniture, signage, and other necessary items for events.
- Provide on-site technical support during events to address any last-minute client requests or issues.
General Operational Support:
- Support other areas of the conference center during downtime, including hospitality tasks, guest services, and basic administrative duties.
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for guests.
- Assist with inventory management, including event supplies and equipment.
- Step in to help other departments as needed, showcasing a team-oriented attitude.
Qualifications:
- Experience in operating and maintaining AV systems in a professional setting.
- Knowledge of video conferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Microsoft Teams), AV control systems, and troubleshooting common technical issues.
- Familiarity with basic IT networking and connectivity for AV systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with clients, team members, and vendors.
- Physical ability to lift and move equipment and furniture as part of event setup.
- Willingness to cross-train in other areas and contribute to a variety of tasks.
