Job Summary
The Catering Sales & Event Manager is at the heart of creating unforgettable events! You’ll be responsible for overseeing the sales and execution of events, leading a team to provide exceptional service and exceed client expectations. This role blends creativity, leadership, and operational expertise to ensure everything from food quality to hospitality shines.
As part of the Food at Google program, you’ll collaborate with multiple teams, including culinary, marketing, operations, and more, to deliver seamless events and an amazing experience for our partners. Reporting to the Director of Operations, you'll use your event planning and communication skills to elevate every event.
This role is based in Cambridge, MA.
The great things you will be expected to do:
- Own the overall event experience-beyond just the food offerings
- Lead with a friendly, engaging hospitality mindset
- Ensure high-quality food preparation and taste that wows guests
- Manage catering orders and ensure they meet partner expectations
- Design specialty menus and events based on client needs and budget
- Train, develop, and schedule catering associates while fostering growth in service techniques, menu presentation, and policies
- Conduct employee reviews, coaching, and address concerns professionally
- Implement and follow all employee, sector, and safety guidelines
- Cultivate a culture of food and workplace safety
- Respond to feedback and resolve complaints within 24 hours
- Communicate proactively with partners and teams to ensure accuracy and alignment
- Meet deadlines for quarterly and year-end reports
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent experience
- 3-5 years in a similar role, with a focus on event management and catering
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and anticipate needs
- A true passion for great food and exceptional service
- Excellent time management and multitasking abilities
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
