Job Summary
The Sr. Category Development Manager is responsible for execution and strategic oversight of assigned categories, including negotiation, budgeting, forecasting, aligning customer needs with program.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the financial planning and forecasting process.
- Develop category sourcing strategy and recommendations in conjunction with key business partners.
- Conduct industry analysis to provide proactive insight to develop a 3-year category strategy.
- Partner with Sourcing team to support negotiating & executing preferred supplier contracts.
- Provide ongoing trend analysis (business performance & drivers) to seize value-creating opportunities & corrective actions.
- Research current state and future needs, analysis of market trends and potential suppliers, and identification of continuous improvement opportunities.
- Responsible for development of comprehensive strategy reports
- Identify, design & execute cost savings projects within assigned categories.
- Manage supplier performance - escalation resolution management.
- Create & deliver presentations with customer & competitive insights, recommendations.
- Ownership of required internal processes including budgeting, contract attributes, benchmarking, pricing, product recommendations, etc.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in supply chain, category, finance, or related field; supplier management experience preferred.
- Strong negotiations experience
- Presentation Experience
- Ability to extract insights from complex data sets using advanced excel skills.
- Ability to influence through direct and indirect teams.
- Knowledge / Experience of budgets and forecasting
- High proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word & PowerPoint
- Travel is up to 5% annually.
