What are the responsibilities and job description for the Young Adult Primary Therapist position at Compass Health Center?
As a Primary Therapist, you’ll work thoughtfully with our patients to develop and implement their individualized treatment plans. This role will consist of conducting individual therapy meetings, collaborating with patients’ outpatient teams, and leading patients through their overall treatment program. You’ll partner closely with the entirety of our treatment teams, including Group Therapists, Family Therapists, and Prescribers to ensure comprehensive and compassionate care. This role consists of primarily working with our Young Adult population and specifically within our Young Adult Mental Health and Substance Use Program. Our location in Northbrook is our first and largest facility, and consists not only of our widest variety of programs, but also serves as a pilot site for many of our new treatment offerings.
What You'll Do:
- Utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other evidenced-based therapies
- Overseeing initial and continuing insurance needs of patients
- Coordinate care with patients’ individual providers to ensure continuity of care
- Meeting with patients individually to assess progress and guide treatment planning
- Assessing patient’s progress and need for higher level of care or discharge
- Communicating with patient’s family members or support system when indicated
- Charting in our electronic medical records system
- Engaging in crisis management
- Completing initial intake evaluations to determine diagnosis and appropriateness for program as needed
- Providing group therapy, as needed
- Other duties, as assigned
Who You Are:
- Are a Psychologist or Master’s level therapist (required)
- Hold one of the following licenses: PhD, PsyD, LCSW, or LCPC (preferred)
- 2 years clinical work experience post-Master’s (strongly preferred)
- Have knowledge and experience utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), as well as other evidenced-based therapies
- Have experience with patients in crisis, ideally prior experience working in partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, inpatient hospital, or residential setting
