This position primarily covers weekend nights, working Saturday and Sunday in 12-hour shifts. As a valued member of our interdisciplinary team, you will contribute to the overall coordination of care for individuals experiencing behavioral crises.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive nursing care, including health assessments, pain evaluations, vital sign monitoring, and daily care for patients at the Crisis Stabilization Center.
- Execute all aspects of medication administration, including medication passes, injections, and supervision of self-administration.
- Manage medications effectively by maintaining the medication administration record (MAR), updating records, and conducting counts of controlled substances.
- Provide education to patients regarding their physical health and medication regimens.
- Collaborate with staff, residents, families, physicians, psychiatrists, hospitals, and pharmacies to ensure coordinated care.
- Document and report observable changes in patients' behaviors, attitudes, and physical conditions.
- Assist with various diagnostic and treatment procedures alongside staff members.
- Educate new employees on procedures and protocols within the center.
- Engage in team and leadership meetings as required.
- Provide direct patient care, particularly to adults, while effectively managing interactions with potentially agitated individuals.
- Participate in mandatory overtime as the needs of the center arise.
- Proficient verbal, written, and nonverbal communication skills.
- Strong cognitive, organizational, and emotional abilities to navigate multiple stressors and challenging situations.
- Capacity to educate others on procedural protocols and best practices.
- Ability to work effectively with patients who may demonstrate verbal or physical agitation.
- An Associate’s degree in nursing is required; a Bachelor’s degree in nursing is preferred.
- Valid LPN or RN licensure in Missouri is mandatory.
- A minimum of one year of psychiatric experience is preferred, with experience in a hospital or acute care setting being advantageous.
