This position, scheduled for weekend nights, focuses on delivering quality care to individuals in behavioral crisis while adhering to professional nursing standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care encompassing health assessments, pain evaluations, vital sign monitoring, administering dressings, and general daily care of patients at the Crisis Stabilization Center.
- Execute all aspects of medication management, including medication administration, injections, and supervision of self-medication processes.
- Maintain accurate medication records, including Medication Administration Records (MAR), while ensuring compliance with controlled substance protocols.
- Provide education to patients regarding their physical health and medications to promote informed decision-making.
- Collaborate effectively with healthcare team members, residents, families, physicians, psychiatrists, hospitals, and pharmacies to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Document and report observable changes in patients' behavior, attitudes, and physical conditions.
- Support staff during various diagnostic and treatment procedures and offer guidance on protocols to new employees.
- Participate actively in team and leadership meetings as required.
- Deliver direct patient care to adults, including those who may exhibit verbal or physical agitation.
- Engage in mandatory overtime when necessary.
- Possess strong verbal, written, and nonverbal communication skills.
- Demonstrate cognitive, organizational, and emotional resilience in managing multiple stressors and challenging situations.
- Exhibit the ability to provide compassionate care to adults in a psychiatric environment.
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Practical Nursing Certificate or an Associate's/Bachelor’s in Nursing is necessary.
- A minimum of one year of psychiatric experience is required; prior experience in a hospital or acute care setting is preferred.
- Current licensure as an LPN or RN in Missouri is required.
