The position is PRN, requiring flexibility to work Monday through Friday during daytime hours, with travel to our Columbia, Marceline, and Salisbury locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examinations and treatments, including taking medical histories and vital signs, and accurately documenting in patient charts.
- Set up examination and treatment rooms with the required instruments and supplies.
- Execute venipunctures, urinalysis, EKGs, and other related procedures as directed.
- Administer immunizations and injections, as well as phone in prescriptions while documenting accordingly.
- Provide educational support to patients regarding their care instructions and self-management tools.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners in the preparation for minor surgical procedures and physicals.
- Manage scheduling for tests and additional treatments.
- Effectively triage telephone inquiries ensuring appropriate referrals and communication of messages.
- Uphold the cleanliness of unit facilities and equipment, and monitor inventory of medical supplies.
- Collaborate with medical providers regarding significant health information and follow up with discharged patients to ensure continuity of care.
- Strong clinical assessment and patient care capabilities.
- Proficiency in healthcare technology and software applications.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration within a team.
- Comprehensive knowledge of medical protocols and procedures.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Practical Nursing certificate is mandatory.
- A minimum of two (2) years of experience as a licensed practical nurse in a primary health care setting is preferred.
- Familiarity and proficiency with healthcare technology software is favored.
