Key Responsibilities
- Share personal lived experiences to inspire hope and model effective recovery behaviors.
- Assist individuals in recognizing their resilience and capacity for recovery.
- Facilitate connections between individuals, peers, and broader community support networks.
- Empower individuals to make informed, independent choices about their treatment.
- Identify and enhance personal strengths and resources to support recovery goals.
- Collaborate with treatment teams, contributing valuable input on client Wellness Plans and treatment decisions.
- Participate in required training, shadowing, and meetings to achieve certification as a Certified Peer Specialist.
- Perform additional tasks as assigned in alignment with community needs.
- Must self-identify as a current or former consumer of behavioral health services, including substance use and co-occurring disorders.
- Successful completion of a state-approved training program and passing of a standardized exam is required within 60 days of hire.
- Ongoing certification maintenance as a Certified Peer Specialist through the Missouri Certification Board is essential.
- A valid driver's license and minimum automobile coverage as established by the agency is required.
- High School diploma or GED is mandatory.
