The Mental Health Tech creates a safe environment for clients, provides direct supervision of clients, empowers clients, and teaches new tools for coping to clients. The Mental Health Tech provides direct client care under the supervision of a Unit Supervisor & Registered Nurse. Primary responsibilities include the provision of a safe and therapeutic milieu, crisis intervention, individual/family education groups and activities of daily living.

- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate flexibility for reassignment to units providing care to varied client populations.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelors Degree in Psychology or related field highly preferred; high school diploma required.
- One-year experience working with a psychiatric client population preferred
- Must possess knowledge of psychiatric group processes, therapeutic relationships processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting and behavior management, crisis management with aggressive behaviors, Verbal De-Escalation, Handle with Care and CPR training.
- Prefer knowledge of effective teaching skills and educational strategies with a special education population, individual and group management skills, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development; limit setting and crisis and behavior management.
