Job Description
The primary function of this role includes:
- Repair and maintain underground mobile equipment and mining infrastructure
- Installation, repair, and maintenance of mine and surface fixed plant assets
This position requires a high level of mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment issues, and making repairs as needed.
Responsibilities
Some of your key responsibilities will include:
- Lubricating assigned plant/shop equipment according to routine schedules
- Providing a basic assessment of general equipment condition and reporting perceived problems to the proper authority
- Performing cutting and welding tasks as required
- Reading and interpreting job-related information, including hydraulic, electrical, and parts manuals
- Communicating issues clearly and concisely with team members and management
- Troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining mobile mining equipment in an underground salt mine
- Repairing and maintaining stationary equipment, including conveyor systems, crushers, feeders, screens, and other mine infrastructure
- Demonstrating accuracy and thoroughness in all tasks and duties
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an apprenticeship program or technical trade school, or 5 years of experience in a maintenance field, industrial environment
- Basic knowledge of mobile electrical principles and lighting
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic hose parts and uses
- Basic knowledge of heavy industrial equipment
- Basic knowledge and experience in welding and fabrication of structures and chute work
- Ability to comply with company and MSHA rules and regulations
- Ability to work in team environments
- Knowledge and experience in repair and maintenance of diesel equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications and ability to learn new software programs
Working Environment
This role requires working in a fast-paced industrial environment with exposure to wet and humid conditions, dust, moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. You must be able to wear personal protective equipment, including hard hats, steel-toed boots, safety glasses, and respirators.
