As a key member of our team at Compass Minerals America Inc., you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our underground salt mines.
This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires a high level of mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
You will be responsible for repairing and maintaining mobile equipment, such as Caterpillar, Komatsu, John Deere, Genie, Joy, Oldenburg, Fletcher equipment, as well as stationary equipment like conveyor systems, crushers, feeders, screens, and other mine infrastructure.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong background in heavy industrial equipment repair and maintenance, with experience in welding and fabrication, hydraulic hose installation, and diesel equipment repair.
Additionally, you will need to possess excellent communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to work independently and make sound decisions.
The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, adhering to safety protocols, and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

Key Responsibilities:
* Perform routine maintenance and repairs on mobile equipment, including lubrication, troubleshooting, and parts replacement
* Identify and report potential equipment problems to management
* Operate cutting torches and perform basic welding tasks
* Analyze and interpret job-related information, including schematics and technical manuals
Requirements:
* High school diploma or equivalent; completion of apprenticeship program or technical trade school, or 5 years of experience in maintenance field, industrial environment
* Basic knowledge of electrical principles, hydraulic hose parts, and heavy industrial equipment
* Ability to comply with company and MSHA rules and regulations
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* Ability to work independently and make sound decisions
Work Environment:
* Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with varying temperatures, humidity levels, and noise levels
* Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including hard hat, steel toe boots, safety glasses, and respirator
* May be required to work overtime, shift rotations, and weekends
