Title:
• Site Manager
Role:
• This position requires managing 6-10 crew members per location. (Crew sizes dependent
on car flow)
• This position will oversee new hire onboarding and training initiation for new crew
members that are conducting regular inspections of rolling stock to identify AAR/FRA
defects such as worn-out components, damaged components, or loose fasteners.
• There will be target times and goals set forth as dictated by location specifics.
Communication and strategizing are a key strong point for this position.
Primary Job Duties
• Supervising and performing inspection, maintenance, and repair work on railroad rolling
stock in multiple locations at a time via qualified individuals that are trained, ensuring
they are safe and operational at locations of responsibility. Each site manager will have
primary Job duties that are specific to their areas of responsibility but include the
following:
• Maintain pre-determined RR Communication Structure with RR Ops team and share
with CRS team.
• Identify, plan, schedule crews to maximize site profitability by strategizing to capture
100% of car flow.
• Maintain all established site-specific safety training on top of Compass’ safety training
requirements.
• Understand and update established SDOP at each location of responsibility as
operations adjust to car flow/ demand
• Maintain material staging area to ensure compliance and organization. Identify any other
special parts or equipment not currently incorporated at the location.
• Verify all trucks and equipment maintenance requirements are being met and
documented.
• Identify labor needs as car flow increases and/or decreases and adjust to maintain
profitability/ efficiency goals.
• Manage training requirements and documentation for all employees of responsibility.
• Ensure the target hours set forth by the estimating team are being met consistently. Any
deviation from daily metrics is effectively communicated through the chain of command.
Other Job duties include:
• Coordinating with Director of Health and Safety ensuring that all maintenance and repair
activities adhere to safety regulations and guidelines of AAR/FRA/OSHA to prevent
accidents and injuries.
• Coordinating with Director of Quality in maintaining records of maintenance activities,
inspections, and repairs for reporting and auditing purposes.
• Collaborating with sponsoring railroads other departments and agencies involved in rail
operations, such as scheduling track closures for maintenance work, the billing
department, and the purchasing department.
• Responding to track emergencies, such as derailments or bad order cars to quickly
restore rail service for customers.
• Continuously communicate
with railroad contacts to ensure 100 percent of car flow is captured.
• Manage any MRU call out work/ projects at host railroads
• Fill in for any other site personnel that are on vacation in their absence.
• Overnight travel may be required as the business dictates.
